yoga for men

IMG_2105.JPG

Iā€™m not teaching a specific yoga for men class at the moment due to limited space in the studio. I hope to be able to restart later this year.

I have regained flexibility and my core strength is much improved, as is my posture.. The sessions are brilliant, great fun with a few laughs for good measure!

why yoga for men?

This class came about because several men had been interested in my vinyasa flow class but didn't fancy being the only inflexible person at the back of a class full of flexible women who can put their foot behind their head. This perception of yoga is familiar (and also incorrect - most people aren't super flexible) but understandable.  Many men who practice sport regularly - running, cycling, golf, rugby, whatever - realise they *should* do stretching  more often and they *should* have a stronger core but don't know how to go about doing that.

What does the class involve?

An hour a week dedicated to stretching and strengthening for men. You don't need to have any experience of yoga and you most definitely don't need to be flexible. More flexibility is what you'll get out of yoga, as well as a stronger core and a calmer mind.  It involves sun salutations to warm up, core work like side planks and planks, warrior poses, plus gradually working towards poses like headstands and some fun arm balances like crow pose.  The video below gives you an idea of what my classes are like.
